WARRANTY

🛡️ T & H Wreckers Warranty & Returns Policy

At T & H Wreckers, we are committed to supplying quality used auto parts. Please read this policy carefully before purchase or installation.

The warranty period starts from the original invoice date, not the installation date, and applies only to the original purchaser named on the invoice (non-transferable), subject always to any rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

⚙️ Engine and Driveline Warranty Terms

This covers Engines (internal components only), Transmissions, Differentials, and Final Drive assemblies.

Component Type Standard Warranty Fleet Service Warranty
Engine/Driveline 90 Days (Parts Only) 30 Days (Parts Only)

Note: Extended warranty options may be available upon request. To the extent permitted by law, this warranty covers the supplied part only and does not include labour, removal, reinstallation, diagnostics, programming, towing, vehicle hire, freight, or consequential costs. Nothing in this policy excludes any entitlement to compensation or other remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law.

✅ Warranty Requirements

For any Engine or Driveline warranty claim to be accepted under this warranty:

  • Professional Installation: The part must be installed by a licensed/certified workshop or appropriately qualified technician.
  • Proof of Installation: The original invoice and reasonable proof of professional installation and servicing must be supplied when requested.
  • Part Integrity: The part must be made available for inspection and, where a return is required, returned complete and substantially in the condition in which it was supplied. Unauthorised alteration, dismantling, or tampering may result in the claim being denied where it prevents proper assessment or contributes to the failure.

Engine Specific Requirements:

  • Heat Tab: Engines may be supplied with a T & H Wreckers heat tab (melting point 127°C). A removed, tampered-with, or melted heat tab may be evidence of overheating or interference and may result in the claim being denied where relevant to the failure.
  • Seals & Gaskets: The customer is responsible for replacing all external seals and gaskets (for example, rear main seal, valve cover gasket, and oil pan gasket) before installation. External oil or coolant leaks from these service items are not covered by this warranty unless otherwise required by law.

Transmission/Driveline Specific Requirements:

The purchaser must ensure all installation and commissioning requirements appropriate to the vehicle and component are completed, including where applicable:

  • Replacing or properly flushing the radiator and/or transmission oil cooler as required
  • Flushing transmission oil lines
  • Replacing filters, seals, and pan gaskets
  • Filling the transmission/differential with the correct type and quantity of fluid
  • Adjusting shifter mechanisms
  • Completing any required programming, coding, adaptation, relearn, or reset procedures

🔁 Warranty Claims, Replacement & Return Timeframes

  • Assessment: T & H Wreckers may require reasonable information, diagnostic results, photographs, workshop reports, or return of the supplied part so the claimed fault can be assessed before a remedy is provided.
  • Replacement Value: Where an approved warranty claim is remedied by replacement, T & H Wreckers will endeavour to provide or source an item of the same or similar type, compatibility, specification, approximate condition, and value, subject to availability.
  • Higher-Value / Upgraded Replacement: Where an equivalent replacement is available, but the customer elects to receive a higher-value or higher-specification item instead, T & H Wreckers may require the customer to pay the difference in value before the upgraded replacement is supplied.
  • If Only a Higher-Value Replacement Is Available: Where no equivalent replacement of the same or similar value is reasonably available and the only suitable available item is of a higher value, the customer will not be required to pay the difference merely because the replacement has a higher retail value. T & H Wreckers may offer that item as the warranty replacement or provide another remedy in accordance with this policy and the Australian Consumer Law.
  • Return Required: Where an approved warranty claim requires the original supplied item to be returned, the item must be received by T & H Wreckers within 14 days of the date T & H Wreckers notifies the customer that the return is required, unless another timeframe is agreed in writing.
  • Late Returns: If the required item is not received within that 14-day period, T & H Wreckers may suspend or close the warranty claim where the delay prevents assessment or completion of the warranty process, except where the customer has rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
  • Condition of Returned Item: Returned warranty items must be complete and reasonably identifiable as the item supplied by T & H Wreckers. Components removed solely as reasonably necessary for diagnosis or removal should be supplied with the returned item where practicable.
  • Australian Consumer Law: Nothing in this section excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

❌ Warranty Exclusions

A claim may be denied under this warranty where the failure or damage is caused or contributed to by:

  • Engine Accessories: External engine components such as auxiliary parts, water pump, fuel delivery system components, exhaust manifolds, turbochargers, timing chain/belt components, ignition coils, engine thermostats, flexplate/flywheel, and air induction systems are not covered unless expressly stated on the invoice.
  • Misuse or Incorrect Installation: Overheating, running without adequate oil or coolant, accidents, abuse, neglect, alteration, incorrect fluid, improper maintenance, contamination, or improper installation.
  • Electrical/Control Faults: Wiring faults, ECU/TCM faults, incorrect coding, programming, adaptation, or relearn procedures where these cause or contribute to the failure.
  • Vehicle Use: Parts fitted to vehicles used for racing, competition, or extreme off-road purposes.

⚠️ Failed Claim Expenses

Where a claim is found not to be covered by this warranty because the failure was caused or contributed to by matters outside the supplied part (for example, improper installation, overheating, contamination, or misuse), T & H Wreckers may seek recovery of reasonable inspection, freight, dismantling, or testing expenses that were disclosed or reasonably incurred in assessing the claim, to the extent permitted by law.

⚡ Electrical Components Warranty

Electrical components carry a 14-day warranty (unless otherwise stated on the invoice) from the invoice date and are sold for replacement purposes only. Where a covered fault is confirmed, T & H Wreckers may provide a replacement or other remedy as permitted by law.

Items expressly sold for testing purposes and identified as such at the time of sale do not carry this voluntary warranty. This does not exclude any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

↩️ Returns and Credit Policy

Change-of-mind returns are not automatically available. Where T & H Wreckers agrees to accept a non-warranty return, a credit note may be issued if the item is returned with the original invoice within 14 days of the invoice date and otherwise meets the conditions below.

Returned parts must be complete, clean, uninstalled, and in substantially the same condition and/or packaging as sold.

Non-Returnable Change-of-Mind Items:

  • Special-order parts requested by the customer.
  • Cut body sections or custom-cut items.
  • Items incorrectly ordered by the customer where T & H Wreckers supplied the item ordered.
  • Returns based solely on a change of mind.

Important: The above change-of-mind restrictions do not apply where the customer is entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law.
